There a couple of things I feel like I want with guitar.. and if I don’t get them.. I sort of get pissed. I can get away with not having them at practice, but for shows, is a requirement. These are.. new pick and new strings. I love the feel of new picks and new strings. The tone is better. Alive and snappy. Pretty hard to describe. I’m sure a few of you will know what I’m talking about.. while others could give a rats ass about either.
For me, I buy in bulk, so strings and picks are fairly cheap, but if I played bass.. well that’s a little different. I’ve known plenty of bass players that boiled strings, or just rode with dead strings. I’ve been interested in a few string cleaners – this one in particular, but recently came across this interesting video/technique by MarloweDK on how to get your strings to sound new again.
Interesting, right? So what do you think? The impact loosens and removes oil? Does the oil react with hard vibration or concussive force? What are the long term effects on frets with this technique. I might try this to liven strings for practice, but still restring for shows.. not sure. Let me know what you think by commenting below!

I wonder how long does this “string cleaning technique” lasts? Would one have to do it everyday after practice, every three days, every week,……what? Think he could have added that in the video.

That was effin’ genius! I was about to buy me a few bass sets and MarloweDK just saved me a couple. It’s been 2 days since the “magical” resurrection after I saw the video and my strings still sound fresh and crisp. I will try it again as soon as the strings begin to sound “dying”. Thanks MarloweDK, you should start watching your back against string companies’ assassins. LMFAO.
