Here in Missoula, Montana, when summer is at it’s peak, there is an amazing festival that happens called TotalFest. TotalFest is an amazing festival for indie bands from around the country as well as from over seas. This year is the twelve year of TotalFest, and every year, it gets better and better. The vibe is absolutely amazing and supportive. Bands truly like being a part of this, and crowds are super supportive of the variety of bands that are blowing the doors out.
TotalFest consists of several venues in walking distance from each other and spans over three nights. I was very lucky to attend every night this year! One of the bands that I was impressed with was Animal Lover from Saint Paul, Minnesota. We’re talking about a very tough 3-piece. Big amps, loud drums, aggressive vocals, tight and in charge. I picked up some Jesus Lizard/Shellac influences, which is something I dig. You can listen to some tunes on their bandcamp page.
