Today’s pedal line is from Joe Gray. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.
Hi I’m Joe Gray.
In my current band, we play a hybrid of Stoner/Classic/Psychedelic rock. And here is my rig..
Starting off into a..
Korg Pitchblack. Classic tuner that works well.
Digitech Whammy DT. Works for all my octave and harmonising needs, plus so much more.
Vox 847 Wah. Just because the Crybaby didn’t cut it for me. This has a far more brash sound that cuts through the mix. And bad ass chrome.
Devi Ever Soda-Meiser Fuzz. Used for thickening up that bottom end and general noisery.
Seymour Duncan Power Grid. When I first got this I was very skeptical. It turns out it has one of the smoothest overdrives I’ve ever heard.
MXR Custom Bad Ass 78′ Distortion. Set with the gain maxed, its perfect for that tube destroying distortion.
Jam Pedals Red Muck. A clone of the Russian made Sovtek Muffs with some tweeks here and there to give it more clarity and definition. This is my main distortion, again set with the gain all the way out, it produces a brutal hard clipping distortion. Nothing has come close to this in my view.
Electro Harmonix LPB1. A simple boost for simple needs.
Modtone Harmonic Tremor. This is a funky little tremolo. Mainly set to add a shimmer to the tone but doesn’t fail with the huge choppy rhythmic stuff either.
Electro Harmonix Small Stone. For what it is, I was quite taken when I first tried out this little phaser. Lush sound and does the job ten fold.
Electro Harmonix Small Clone. I use chorus to add depth to chunky riffs. This works almost too perfectly.
Home Brew Electronics Frost Bite. The. Best. Flanger. Ever.
Way Huge Supa-Puss. All the sub divisions and rhythmic delay settings are what pushed me to by this. Admittedly, I normally only use it for some messy analogue delay.
Vox Delaylab. This is possibly the best pedal I have ever bought. What ever delay you could imagine, can be made using this white box of magic. Not only delay, but whilst messing around I have come up with some gnarly octave and ring mod sounds.
I hope you have enjoyed my rig. Please check out my band, Colossusaurus. https://soundcloud.com/colossusaurus
