Last month, Chad Beeler of BassEFX let me know about a pedal that EffectsBay readers should really dig. It was the Fuzzrocious Rat King. Chad recently submitted a great review of this pedal. To take things to the next level, Chad and the guys at Fuzzrocious sent one over so I could give one away. How ’bout that!
So, what is the Fuzzrocious Rat King? he RAT KING is the suped-up version of our RAT TAIL. The Rat Tail is based on the vintage ProCo RAT which has some nice changes to the circuit that allows it to be more useable for bass and guitar. It has 3 clipping choices for tone – silicon, no diodes and LED. They’ve also included the a double resistor mod. The Rat King is basically 3 pedals in one – a Rat Tail, a second Rat Tail (through the 2nd distortion setting) and momentary feedback loop. This pedal sells for $210, so this a great opportunity to win an awesome pedal!!!
Here is the full description of the Rat King:
The RAT KING is the suped-up version of our RAT TAIL. The idea behind this monster is to save some board space by kicking a couple of other pedals off of your board! This is three pedals in one: a RAT TAIL, a second RAT TAIL (through the 2nd distortion setting), and a momentary feedback loop. The middle footswitch lets you jump between 2 distortion settings (ex. – low gain/high gain) and it has an LED indicator so you know the 2nd setting is active. The momentary feedback loop is adjustable (we can make this latching for you noise junkies out there). The diode knob (Di) blends between LEDs and silicon diodes AND you can use the toggle to bypass the diodes (great for bassists or for a more ‘open’ sound). The double resistor mod found on our RAT TAIL is also included to allow you to fine tune your sound and control how the ciruit clips by clipping more on just the highs, just the lows, or anything in between.
Fuzzrocious is making some amazing pedals, and definitely worth a few minutes to go to their site and check out the other pedal offerings they have.
I wanted to also talk about our long time EffectsBay friend, Chad Beeler of BassEFX. If you’re a bass player, you definitely need to check out BassEFX. Chad has developed a store dedicated to the bass player. Not to mention, shoot him an email and he’ll be able to assist and advice on any pedal recommendations. I like seeing more and more pedalboards for bass players, and this is a valuable resource to pick up something right for your tone!
