Let’s start with me saying – “I love Shows Us Your Junk”! If you’re not familiar with this web series (and you’re a person that likes to nerd out on gear), you need to start watching this. This show is produced by the fine people at Earthquaker Devices and they basically will find an artist, producer, engineer, etc and get into their space and explore some of the crazy gear they’ve collected over the years.
Personally, I’m always amazed and fascinated with the crazy array of weird stuff people have – and those random bits are found on iconic albums and projects. It’s gives me more reason to hold on to those pieces – you never know when it will come into play in the future.
I’m a big Sonic Youth fan, and in particular, I’ve always dug Lee Ranaldo as a player and a person. On this great episode, they feature Lee and is insane collection of amps, guitars, pedals and random weirdness. I have a connection with Lee, since I actually purchased one of the Sonic Youth stolen guitars (a Travis Bean TB1000A) in the early 2000s and returned it too him. Many years later during the “Rather Ripped” tour, I was able to get in contact with him and got backstage for that show and we chatted for a bit. Just recently that guitar was sold for $11K. I might have to do a post dedicated to that story some day. Let me know if you’d like to hear that story.
Anyway, here is the episode of Show Us Your Junk!
Let me know what you think by commenting below! What piece of gear blew your mind? What piece of gear do you wish they went into more detail on?

That’s super cool that you returned the stolen guitar. Please do a post on it! I’d be interested in the story. Thanks for sharing this video.
