Back in the early 90s, the Smashing Pumpkins blew my mind. It was the time when the formula of loud-quiet-loud was adopted by many bands – Pixies, Nirvana, etc. But to me, the Smashing Pumpkins took that to the next level. Off of their awesome album – Gish, the song Siva is a perfect example. I couldn’t believe how rocking that song was, but then it would get SO quiet. Mind. Blown.
Years went by and I would slowly drift away from Pumpkins. Just like everything time changes everything. My interests and what the band is doing, don’t always line up. I haven’t listened to much Pumpkins these days, but somewhat recently, they’re back on my radar. About a year ago Jack Bates signed on for bass on their tour. Jack is the son of Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order, Peter Hook & the Light), and I’ve been following The Light (who Jack was playing bass for) so that put the Smashing Pumpkins back on my radar. I began watching performances, and.. they were great. We all know Billy Corgan, but I was really liking the guitar work of Jeff Schroeder (who wasn’t in the band back in 90s).
A couple of days ago I saw this quick video by Eventide talking about pedals with Jeff Schroeder and thought I would break down the board at the time of this video. Looking at various resources, he appears to change quite often.
Here is the breakdown of pedals. If you see anything incorrect or missing, let me know. Thanks to the great members of the Facebook Group – Gear Talk for helping on identifying some of these pedals!
