Today’s Pedal Line Friday submission is from Wayne Ridenhour Jr. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.
The order of effects is,
Section One
1Â Crybaby 535Q (I like that the frequency and “Q” can be adjusted)
2Â Boss TU3 (because I love that it can roll sharp/flat the freeze when in tune. They call it ‘Stream Display’)
3Â MXR Dyna Comp (mostly because my ear is from the 80’s but it really helps even out my electric finger picking)
4Â EQD Pitch Bay (it is a chromatic polyphonic +&- 12 semitone-octave you could do triads or just about anything else works best with comp ON)
Boost/Dirt Section
5Â EQD Black Eye (VERY clean boost that is unity at 12 o’clock and can either +or- 30db)
6Â EQD Palisades (this monster covers EVERY 808 or Tube Screamer style pedal I adjust it for single coil or humbuckers)
7Â Jetter GS124 (the nature of this is almost identical to a softly driven Dumble amp and with the Palisades in front it can drive so sweetly)
8Â MXR ’78 Distortion (what can I say, sometimes ya just gotta rock like Mr. Hagar 70’s through 80’s distortion)
Phase/Chorus Section
9Â MXR Script Phase 90 (this is a reissue of the Script logo unit but has the LED light. Mostly used for swirly leslie speaker sound)
10 Boss BF3 (my very first pedal was a DOD flanger and I don’t think I could do funkiness without it)
11 Boss CH1 (I am from the 80’s and this pedal is the chorus that’s glassy like Mr. Summers Police sound)
Tremolo-Delay-Volume Section
12 Fulltone Supa-Trem (not all my amps have tremolo and the ones that do can’t go as slow as this one can. I love the Hard/Soft ability)
13 Ernie Ball VP Jr. (how else ya gonna fight the sound guy while you play! Plus it’s easier than doing the Bill Kirchen stuff with your pinky)
14 MXR Carbon Copy (mostly to add some soft analog echo to solos but also does well with finger style stuff)
15 Boss DD2 (another throwback to the 80’s! Rhythmic trickery and whale sounds when used with the VP Jr.)
This is for me a very versatile setup and if ya need to know about Ernie the Elf, he has never left my side (or feet in this case).
Wayne
