Pedal Line Friday – 7/31 – Tim Crowe

Today’s Pedal Line Friday submission is from Tim Crowe. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 7/31 - Tim CroweHello,

I’m Tim Crowe, from upstate New York, about as far from the city as you can get while still being in the state.  In my previous band, Well Worn Boot, we wore costumes and played original rock music.  Here are a bunch of youtube vids, if you’re interested.  I’m the guy in the Horse costume – click here.

Now that we’re done with the band, I fill in with friends’ bands, and I’ve moved on to other projects.  I’ve been making my own effects, which you can check out by clicking here,  and composing music for indie games, which you can check out by clicking here.

Now for the important part – my board:

Here’s the path:

In front of the amp:
Cry Baby 535Q Wah
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Tuner
Xotic EP Booster
crowe.effects 5 Way True Bypass Looper
Loop 1: Dunlop Volume X (exp out into mission expressionator)
Loop 2: MXR Dyna Comp
EHX POG 2
Loop 3: Strymon Mobius
Loop 4: crowe.effects D-Drive (Dumble Style OD)
Loop 5: crowe.effects Fuzz (Based on Earthquaker Devices Hoof Fuzz)

Effects Loop:
Crowe.Effects 5 Way True Bypass Looper
Loop 1: Strymon Mobius
Loop 2: Strymon TimeLine
Loop 3: Strymon BigSky
Loop 4: Strymon Flint w/ external tap switch to tap out them time (placed between true bypass loopers)
Loop 5: Empty to use as mute switch
Jam Man Solo XT if I’m practicing or need a looper, but I don’t usually gig with it.

A few quick notes:
1. The Dunlop Volume X is a volume and expression pedal.  The Expression out goes to the Mission Expressionator, which allows me control the expression functions of  any combination of the Mobius, Timeline, and BigSky.  It only acts as a volume pedal when its loop is engaged.
2.  The Strymon Mobius has a mode where you can use the stereo jacks to have it in multiple places in your path, so I have it both in front of the amp and in the effects loop.
3.  In the event I’m running into an amp without an effects loop, like a Fender Twin, I just bridge the two loopers and everything is in front of the amp.  That’s why i built two individual Loopers instead of one long one.

Thank, let me know if you post my board!

Tim Crowe

Looks killer. I have one question. How are you keeping the Volume (X) on the board? I have had the worst luck getting Velcro to stick to the bottom.
