Today’s Pedal Line Friday submission is from Jean-Thomas. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.
I’m JT, and I play the guitar for almost 17 years now, with a long break because of family, moving and kids. I’m back in a band since a few months and we play indie rock stuff (http://theprofilers.bandcamp.com/album/run-away). So I came from a very few pedals to a lot more extended pack.
Here’s my stuff, which comes from a Telecaster Baja into a Laney VC15-110 :
Boss TU2 : I have it since ages and it never failed me. I use it to mute my guitar too.
DOD Phasor 201 : a very sweet and gentle phaser, I’m not completely sure about its place right now.
Handmade clones (ZVEX SHO+Mad Professor Sweet Honey) : a crazy combo ! I set the SHO clone always “on” thanks to the master volume knob to enhance my tone and I use the Sweet Honey to dirty up a little more when I pay clean lines.
Joyo Overdrive : I was looking for a TS like. Got this one for 22$ and I think it’s quite unbeatable !
RAT clone : this one has a switch which can provides a more vintage tone but I prefer the big and compressed output of the first position. I love this distortion plus if you crank up the knobs it can go quite fuzzy.
EHX Big Muff Pi : a classic reissue I bought a long time ago. It’s not gonna last on the board because it’s way too big and I’m only using it on one song for now.
Boss TR2 : simple and effective. The volume drop doesn’t bother me for now.
Boss CE3 : an oldie which I’m attached to. Its analog tone is nice and clear.
Boss DD2 : easy to go, dark and warmth at the same time, I’m using it in various ways, sometimes as a delay, sometimes as a darker reverb.
TC Electronic Mini Spark : I step on this baby when I need to go over the mix, whether I’m clean or dirty. If you hold the switch, the boost will last as long as you’re on it. Brilliant !
TC Electronic Mini HoF : I must dig a little bit more into it because I only use one basic preset, but it definitely does the job.
The signal comes from the guitar to the Muff, then to the preamp. FX Send to the TR2, then from the HOF to FX Return. The pedalboard is a cheap INNOX PB01 and cables are a mix of
Fender/Squier/Mooer. Power supply is Harley Benton Powerplant Junior.
