Today.. is a sad day for me. I turned down and opportunity to see My Bloody Valentine at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, WA. tonight. Why? Because I’m busy. But reality is because.. I’m stupid. But what is done, is done.
There are a few times in your life, where you hear an album that blows your mind. A pivotal moment you might say. Something that defines an age or captures something you didn’t know was missing or undefined? When Loveless came out in the early 90s, that was one of those albums. The first time I heard it, I didn’t truly get it, but after few listens, it sucks you in. I look at that album as a masterpiece, and even though the term “shoegaze” wasn’t even a “thing” yet, it clearly was a leader in that movement.
I’ve talked about Kevin Shields before. People love to see his pedals and effects, but where the rubber hits the road, is with his guitars. He loves the Fender Jazzmaster guitars. I love them too, but it was interesting to see this video and hear him talk about some of his technique with the trem bar. Check it out..
