Today’s Pedal Line Friday submission is from Curt Gallmeyer. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.
Pedal Line Friday – 1/19 – Curt Gallmeyer
Attached are pictures of the two pedalboards I use. For the most part, anymore, I’m a sit at home, playing by myself player – but periodically still play in a church setting. Overall, everything on both boards revolves around overdrive, delay and reverb – with a few others thrown in and changed around periodically. Like most, have gone through quite a few other pedals over the years – and always seems like there are others waiting to be tried out.
Three guitars as of right now are a 2008 MIM Fender Telecaster that has been upgraded and modded a bit, a 2016 Gibson Les Paul Standard, and a 2015 Epiphone Sheraton.
The amp I’ve had for the past year is a Port City Twelve (head and cab) – set clean with all pedals running into the front of the amp.
Pedalboard #1: The Small Board
This is the easy to transport board and one I use in public settings. Goal was to have just the basics, but with most pedals having some flexibility built into them. Power it all with a Truetone OneSpot. Chain is:
Korg Tuner: Just a tuner – picked it up cheap and on sale somewhere.
Snouse Black Box: Nice handmade pedal – BluesBreaker klone/reproduction.
Wampler Tumnus Deluxe: Newest addition to the board – perfectly fit into the space I had for it – love it so far, especially the 3-band eq.
Empress Tape Delay: Nice delay with tap tempo.
Digitech Supernatural Reverb: Used mostly for light spring reverb – but lots of other options on it as well.
BBE Sonic Stomp: Don’t know what it does, but love what it does – just seems to brighten things up and makes it all sound “cleaner”.
Pedalboard #2: The Big Board
Set this one up so that I had at least 2 options with everything. Powered with two Truetone OneSpot CS7 Pro’s. Chain is:
Digitech Tuner: Got it on sale – does what it’s supposed to do.
Fulltone OCD: Overall like this, but has more gain and output than I need/use. Believe this is a 1.7v – running at 18v.
Timmy: Love this. Just a nice flat overdrive setting. Running it at 18v as well. Not a huge fan of the surf green but sound makes up for that!!
Boss GE7: Found this used for a decent price. It’s the JHS modded version. Use it for a boost.
Morley Volume Plus: This is the oldest pedal on the board – and that I have. Seems to work well. Like the secondary, lower volume setting option.
Visual Sound Dual Tap Delay: Overall nice delay. One set for 1/4 notes and other set for dotted 1/8.
BBE Tremor: I’m a sucker for tremolo – got this on sale and like the 2 speed settings.
Digitech RV7: Nice reverb. Used for a lighter setting.
Digitech DL8: Used for a bit heavier delay sound than what the Dual Tap Delay is set for.
Boss RV6: Use the modulation setting. This and the DL8 are above volume pedal so they can be kicked on/off for ambient swells.
BBE Sonic Stomp: Same as above – just seem to be a sucker for this pedal and like what it does.
TC Electronics Ditto: Picked it up used and on sale. Just use it for goofing around at home and layering sounds.
