I want to start off by saying.. I absolute love Matt Sweeney’s show – Guitar Moves. I hate the name of it, but love the show! Guitar Moves has the ‘vibe’ I love. A couple of people in a room with a low-key interview style, and just dinking around with instruments. It’s not a master class on technique, but talking about where the musician came from, where they want to go. It talks about their challenges and love of playing guitar. I also appreciate how Matt seem to really enjoy these encounters with other musicians. I just dig it.
On this particular episode, it’s J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. Typically J’s interview style is pretty rough. Very aloof, uninterested and you generally get the feeling it’s the last thing he wants to do. I was excited about this particular interview since Matt and J are friends – and the result, was a pretty entertaining interview! Check it out below:
Okay.. wait.. J just learned palm muting? Man.. I love this show.
So we see J’s small board. Typically, he has 3 full stacks and a major pedalboard. This is his ‘mini fly’ board, and I talked about it here as well. Here is the break down of pedals on that little guy…
Analogman Beeno Boost (mini)
Mooer Hustle Drive
(Dead)fx I Can’t Feel My Face Super-Fuzz
D-Sound Ram’s Head Muff
