An Effects Bay reader (Tim) sent me an email asking me if I could do some digging on Girl Band’s Alan Duggan’s pedalboard. Girl Band (based out of Dublin) has always fascinated me. Every time I listen to it I get a response and for whatever reason, I can’t turn it off. It’s definitely on the noise side of things, but has a groove that locks you in. The vocal style is interesting with a mix of scream with mono-tone. It draws you in. The band, is constantly knocking you off balance – and that can be so fun to soak in.
Girl Band is a 4 piece consisting of Alan Duggan on guitar, Daniel Fox on on bass, Adam Faulkner on drums and Dara Keily on vox. I also thinks its interesting to have the sonic power of this band with a single guitarist, so when Tim asked for this, I was on board to learn more.
First, let’s check out some Girl Band. Here is a live performance:
This performance was from 2016 and the pedalboard photo I found was from that period. Looking at other live performance, he’s used variation of this set up.
