Today’s Pedal Line Friday submission is from Jean-Thomas. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.
Pedal Line Friday – 2/24 – Jean-Thomas
Hello,
Here’s the latest evolution of my pedalboard, from this : http://www.effectsbay.com/2015/02/pedal-line-friday-227-jean-thomas/ to the new one. As a reminder, I’m one of the two guitarists for an indie-rock French band (http://theprofilers.bandcamp.com/album/disease).
The latest addition is this nice flightcase from Road Ready. This is a 32″ so it’s huge but not so heavy to lift on. I’m planning on adding some wheels.
For the signal chain, all comes through my Telecaster Custom 72 (rewired by my bassist friend and featuring a new Allparts awesome neck), into a Laney VC15-110 + Harley Benton Vintage G212, Celestion V30 loaded in :
Boss TU2 : still here, absolute no complain about it !
EHX Pitch Fork : used for aerials swells, slight sub/sup octaves and a riffy part for a song.
Hotone KOMP : a cheap but very solid compressor, always on to add a little sparkle.
DOD Phasor 201 : nice and sweet phaser. I max it for a song to achieve a soft “vibe” feeling.
Handmade clones (ZVEX SHO+Mad Professor Sweet Honey) : in love with this pedal. SHO is always on and the Sweet Honey is a fantastic tool, very reactive and dynamic. It’s my 1st gain stage.
Fulltone OCD : I switched from the Joyo Overdrive to this classic as I was looking for a less colored tone. I don’t know if it will stay this way because I’m actually missing a TS9 tone.
RAT clone : made by a French gentleman (www.coda-effects.com), it’s very nice !
Boss CE3 : one of my oldest pedal. Its does the job but I’m dreaming for a more crazy pedal such as the EQD Sea Machine.
Ernie Ball VP Jr 25K : a pain to fix but a nice feeling under the feet. This is a classic.
Diamond Memory Lane Jr : this pedal is a must-have. The tone is magical and very musical, I love it. One complaint is the limited oscillating capacity.
Boss DD20 : I needed presets so I went for this one. After struggling with it, I found out it sounds much better after the ML Jr rather than before. A buffer issue maybe ? It has its own tap-tempo, again built by Benoît from Coda Effects.
Strymon Flint : one of my gem. I love this one. The favorite switch goes for a long and washy reverb. I’m usually stuck on the 70’s setting.
TC Electronic Mini Spark : this one is used to raise my volume on some clean parts. Cheap and perfect.
I’m using the FX Loop of the Laney and almost all cables are Evidence Audio SIS Solderless.
Cheers
Jean-Thomas
