Well.. I went to NAMM. And I think it broke me. Came back exhausted, wore out, with ringing ears and a cold. I’ll talk about my thoughts in an upcoming post. For today, I wanted to talk about Brian Cook of Russian Circles. Last summer this band played my town of Missoula and I was not going to miss this. I’ve never seen them live and was extremely excited.
They played at the Badlander which is a great venue to see music. Great sound, and it’s small enough to catch all the action and have an intimate audience vibe while still having good stage, etc.
I’ve been a fan of this band for years, but to see them work the pedals was a real treat. The stuff they pull off with real time looping with a drummer is mind blowing.
Brian Cook has a very large pedal setup. You usually don’t see this many pedals on the bass side, so this makes it quite special. Brian’s tone is incredible. During this show he was playing his EGC Bass and the tone.. the tone.. was incredible.
