Here on Effects Bay I try to give away gear on a frequent basis. I love to give back to the readers that helped make this site super fun to be a part. Additionally, it’s great to bring some attention to the builders. Without them, we wouldn’t have these give aways, and these give aways, in turn send a lot of eyeballs to the builder, which then hopefully creates some future sales for them.

As I’ve mentioned before, Rattlesnake Cable Company is a business I started a few years ago – frankly, because I was inspired by the builders I was interacting with here on the site. To build gear that musicians use and seeing them used on stage is a great feeling. Also, for my day job, I work with computers. I live in the virtual world where the only physical interaction I have with the things I make is via the keyboard and mouse. Doing that for many years, I became obsessed with “real” things. That started with talking and hanging out with various luthiers, and I began to feel envious of what they were doing – they were building “real” things that could out live them. I think that is what initially planted the seed for me. Wow, I didn’t mean to go so deep about Rattlesnake.

Why I wanted to bring Rattlesnake up, is because I’m running a cool cable package give away currently, where you can have the opportunity to win a pair of 15′ custom instrument cables (with Nickel Neutrik Plugs) and a pair of 8″ Flex Patch cables ($144 total retail value).
