Pedal Line Friday – 7/1 – Bardar

Today’s Pedal Line Friday submission is from Bardar. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 7/1 - BardarHi

My name is Bardar. I am the guitarist, composer and songwriter for 4th Axis. You can check out my latest music video here.

My Pedalboard is made of hardwood with velcro receiver stuck on top. The signal chain is in the following order:

1. Donner DT-01 Chromatic Tuner: As people often say, it is the best thing you could buy for 20$. It does exactly what it says. You might get a momentary hiss and unwanted echo if you press the switch with your bare skin but then we mostly wear shoes on stage.

2. Digitech The Drop: Extremely useful if you don’t wanna learn new voicings to fit your guitar in the vocalists’ register. Also, if you make a guitar solo with 16th notes alternating between your open E string note and the notes on the frets (like the opening riff of Wasted Years by Iron Miaden), and are required to play it 2 steps down, you need this pedal.

3. Boss AC-3 Acoustic Simulator: Always use this with a DI and real PA or it sounds crap. This pedal saves me from carrying an additional Acoustic Guitar and is really helpful when your songs require switching between acoustic and electric.

4. Behringer UV300 Ultra Vibrato: If you don’t know how to make a sad song, I’ll tell you a trick. Play arpeggios with a vibrato pedal. Tada!! I have a song called ‘Conflict’ which uses this pedal heavily in a live setting. The studio version is played on a Hammered Dulcimer.

5. MXR M234 Analog Chorus: I have a very specific use for this pedal. I switch it on only while playing harmonics to get a fuller sound. Occasionally I would use my Tremolo pedal to make it more interesting.

6. Dunlop GCB95F Cry Baby Wah: I think everybody knows about it. I am working on a second project called ‘Pseud Max’ and this pedal lets me cover ‘Be Yourself’ by Audioslave there.

7. Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor: You can learn to mute unwanted strings from buzzing but there are things that are just not in your ‘hands’. The Boss NS-2 suppresses these unwanted hums coming from Distortion and Overdrive pedals.

8. Boss DS-1X Distortion: I chose DS-1X over DS-1 because the High and Low knobs are an absolute necessity if your music is influenced by a range of multiple styles and genres. Sure I need an additional Overdrive Pedal and soon I’ll be getting an EHX Soul Food to give company to DS-1X.

9. Rocktron Pulse Tremolo: Well, it is a tremolo pedal.

10. TC Electronic Flashback Mini Delay: It is difficult to get a better delay which covers so less space and has so much versatility. To add on to it, you can change just about all the settings or emulate the delay settings of great musicians by using the Tone Print app in your mobile.

11. TC Electronic Ditto Looper: My songs have multiple layers of guitar spawning up after every cycle. Doing this is possible only with this looper. Besides, it is a great friend in the process of songwriting before you go to your DAW and even for everyday practising.

Power Supply: JOYO JP-02. A cheap power supply good for the current set of pedals. However, you can see that this pedal board still has some free real-estate and demands a few more pedals to be added. Hence, Ill be shifting to Voodoo Lab Mondo Power Supply soon.

My music for sale on iTunes and also our website would be up very soon. All the information would be available on the facebook page.
