Over the years, I feel quite lucky that I started this site. The people I’ve met, including you the readers and the many builders out there. What makes it super fun, is the opportunity to check out different pieces of gear. Here in Missoula, Montana, having the opportunity to play a variety of boutique pedals is quite hard, and you pretty much have to rely on your guitar-nerd friends for those opportunities. Or have an opportunity to see a touring band with some cool gear.

One of the companies that I was stoked to meet a few years back is Celestial Effects located in Hudson, MA. They make some killer effects and have sponsored several give aways and have been a long time supporter of Effects Bay. Great people. Great gear!

I recently received the Celestial Effects Sagittarius Overdrive Boost, and as usual, I was not let down. One thing that I’ve come to really appreciate from Celestial Effects – is their build quality. These guys take everything to the next level. Once you look under the hood, you can see what I’m talking about. They use super thick PCBs, quality potentiometers with rubber grommets for dust protection. Lock washers on the jacks and super beefy enclosures. When I look at all of these simple but super important upgrades, they separate themselves from the pack. Mil-spec is what comes to mind.

The Sagittarius is 2 pedals in one. One side is an Overdrive and the other side is a Boost.Simple controls. Simple handling. One effects cascades into the other. But what happens if you want to change the order of the drive or the boost? Well, there is a switch that is accessed via a hole on the bottom of the enclosure that let’s you toggle the order. I love it!
