Wilco. The first time I heard Wilco. I absolutely hated the band. Not sure what album it was, but I did not dig them. Not at all. Then around 2003 or so, a friend of mine told me I needed to listen to the Wilco album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I let my friend know.. “dude.. I really don’t like these guys”, but I gave it a listen. Within seconds, my attention was grabbed, and I couldn’t believe how much I liked this album. That was the beginning of opinion of the band. A short while later I had a chance to see REM live, and Wilco opened up, and again, I was blown away by Wilco. Okay, I thought, I like this band now. It’s funny how some bands or records you don’t like initially become some of your favorites. I wonder why that is?
Years later I find out that one my guitar heroes – Nels Cline signed on, very cool. And again, I was surprised by Wilco. Okay, enough about my thoughts on the band, I wanted to talk about their ‘loft’. I’ve heard about their loft in Chicago which is their studio and storage of so much amazing gear. I’ve seen glimpses here and there, but I saw this video a while back by Reverb.com where they show much more and letting you know that you can purchase some of this Wilco gear.
Being in a band myself, I sort of geek out on this. The thought of having a ‘loft’ for rehearsing, recording, storing all things band related would be pretty amazing. I would be super into it.
