Pedalboard of The Church’s Steve Kilbey 2015

Pedalboard of The Church’s Steve Kilbey 2015I wanted to complete my run on The Church pedals. It’s been fun posting Peter Koppes and Ian Haug previously. It’s also been great reading the comments on Facebook from the Church fans out there. So today, last but not least, is the great Steve Kilbey! Steve is the master of atmosphere in my opinion. That voice of his, soothes you like a spell – melancholy and dry, but perfect, while the bass so melodic yet driving. He is the master of this combination. The Church in a lot of ways is the perfect band, complex yet accessible, melodic and driving, a band that sets the mood like very few. I do like this band!

I would like to thank Tim Grime Photography again for the use of these amazing photos. It’s been fun detailing these pedals, and having great photos to start with, sure makes the job that much easier. Thank you Tim! Check out this guy’s photos on Flickr.. amazing!

When I think of The Church bass, there is nothing fancy about it (effects wise). It’s just brilliant great bass tone. So when I say Steve’s pedalboard, I was not surprised at what I saw. Simple, and gets the job done. The effects wizards are taking care of the madness on the sides of Steve, so it’s important to be the guy focused and driving down the middle.

Like you take on a description of Steve’s bass role in The Church. Sing Songs, Seance, Remote Luxury/Persia were probably the most experimental bass/effects wise. Some of his solo and side projects also had some more experimentation.
