Melvins is one of those iconic bands.. that you sort of need to really see live.. to really appreciate. I’ve had the opportunity to see them a couple of times – since they’re constantly on tour. And their intensity, especially Buzz Osborne (aka King Buzzo) is something to witness.
About 6 years ago, I had the opportunity to talk with Buzzo in a parking lot prior to a Missoula gig for a bit, and we were talking about Travis Bean guitars and this company called Electrical Guitar Company (EGC) based out of Florida. At that time, he was pretty much only playing Les Pauls and was telling me some TSA nightmare stories of how they constantly break his guitars when they fly. He would say the headstocks was the usually breaking point. I was amazed by this, and that he was really interested in the EGCs since the TSA would never be able to break these things. I’m friends with Kevin Burkett of Electrical Guitar Company, I was really excited to hear that Buzzo did end up in Pensacola, FL on that particular tour and picked up a couple of EGCs. Since then, Kevin/EGC are offering a King Buzzo Signature model.
A couple of days ago, I was stoked to see a Premier Guitar Rig Rundown featuring Osborne’s gear and I wanted to post it here. Be sure to follow Premier Guitar, one of the best channels on the Tubes.
Here is the break down of pedals I see on this small and efficient board:
Boss TU-3 Tuner
MXR Dyna Comp
Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Limited Edition Octavio
Way Huge Aqua-Puss
Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive
Pedaltrain Classic JR
Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+
