Pedal Line Friday – 4/3 – Jeff Gottlieb

Today’s Pedal Line Friday submission is from Jeff Gottlieb. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 4/3 - Jeff GottliebMy name is Jeff Gottlieb and this is the board I’m using right now for my band out of Tallahassee, FL – Driving Lights. I play a Gibson SG into a Dr. Z Remedy (cranked and dirty) through WGS speakers. I use my guitar volume knob a lot to control dirt and volume. Here’s my signal chain.

LS Effects Tone Messiah – I was losing some of the high end by going through all of my pedals but this saved it. Nearly as good as plugging straight in to the amp.

Nail Audio Fuzz – I’ve got it dialed in for a pretty fat fuzz tone but it does a good overdrive as well. Very versatile. And who doesn’t like black sparkle?!

Keeley Modded TS – For years I went back and forth with this pedal, loved it, hated it, loved it again, etc. Then I got the Keeley mod and it hasn’t come off my board since. I use it mainly to get a little extra dirt for a really nasty tone.

TC Corona Chorus – This is the newest addition and it is fantastic. I use it to just add a little extra shape and texture to chords that ring out and sustain. Being able to control the FX level is key for me.

Boss Tremolo – I always liked the tone but the mod from Modest Mike solved the volume problem (and added some new features).

Wampler Faux Tape Echo – I can’t say enough about this pedal. Sounds incredible, easy to dial in a great setting, and even has some warble if you want some modulation. I usually set it for short repeats when I play chords high up on the neck.

EHX Cathedral – I love reverb. I don’t mean that I love a lot of reverb, just the right amount. The dry signal to me is just too stale. I usually use the plate or accu spring setting although I think they all sound good. And the reverse is super cool for getting some spacey sounds.

LS Effects Jolt – In the past I’ve used this as an overdrive pedal but I needed a pedal to boost my volume at the end of the chain and I just couldn’t take this off my board.

Boss Tuner – I can’t remember why I put this at the end of the chain but it seems to work fine there.

Everything is powered by the Fuel Tank except the EHX Cathedral which has its own adapter. I use velcro and zip ties to keep everything in place.
