Pedals Fusion with Bass Guitar

Pedals Fusion with Bass GuitarI’ve been really enjoying non-conventional pedal demos lately. Showing the functionality of the pedal is good to know. Technical demos are a must while searching for new gear, but I really enjoy the creative demos where pedals are played to show some of the possible sounds, and even better yet, combined with other pedals. Pedals Fusion is one of those demos. Today’s Pedals Fusion with Bass Guitar is a perfect example of showing what is possible with a simple combination of pedals.

Pedals Fusion has a few videos in their channel – all worth checking out, and I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on what these guys do in the future!

Check out the video.. and please remember to subscribe to Pedals Fusion on YouTube:

For this video, they used bass dirtied up with the Moog Minifooger MF Drive, which sounds great.  The combination of the Boss RV-5 Digital Reverb with the older Boss PS-3 Pitch Shifter / Delay surprised me. I didn’t know you could achieve such a big shimmer effect with this combination. I’m not sure if the current Boss PS-6 Harmonist is capable of the same effect (if you know please comment below). And finally, the Subdecay Quasar DLX analog phaser with talking robot effect.

I thought this video was great. I also think it was great that they featured bass. Bass players are starting to play more with effects, and continue to see a big trend here.

I have a PS-6 and I set up a rig similar to the one in the video to see if indeed the shimmer quality would be present. I can asure you that it is there. I set up a “similar” rig as I don’t have the exact same pedals, but rather ones of the same genre from different manufacturers. I used my trusty Fender P-Bass through the pedals and into my GK 500 watt mini head and 2×10 & 1×18 cabs and the synth tone and shimmer were awesome. I’m a multi-instrumentalist who has been playing bass almost exclusively as of late as demanded by my present gig. I’ve almost always played bass through my amp with no other devices, save the necessary cable, in between. I want to thank the OP, and others like him, for sharing their experiments. Because of their inspiration and ideas, I’ve began to experiment with effects in my bass playing and song writing and have nailed some of the synth tones that I loved from the ’70s and ’80s. While I play several instruments proficiently, keys are not one of them that I play well. I never saw myself capturing those tones as a result. Now I have done so and can experiment to try and capture others or even make up some new ones. It’s like I was given a 64 color box of crayons to supplement the 8 color box that I had.
