I’ve been wanting to talk about this for a while. Electro-Harmonix released the Super Pulsar.. the big, big, big brother of the Electro-Harmonix Stereo Pulsar. The original Stereo Pulsar had limited controls (depth, shape, rate and the ability to pick one of two wave forms). With the Super Pulsar, they took things much farther, which makes it quite cool.
The Electro-Harmonix Super Pulsar is an insanely powerful and configurable tremolo pedal. There are very few on the market (if any) that have the options that this pedal has. We do have the standard controls of Wave Form, Wave Shape, Wave Depth, Rate and Volume. But this is where it get’s cool. The Super Pulsar also offers Env Depth and Env Rate. These are controlled by the way you play. Extremely cool.
The Electro-Harmonix Super Pulsar has 8 preset memory banks and 9 Rhythmic presets options. The Rhythmic options are similar to the Boss SL-20 Slicer pedal, where the tremolo pattern breaks up via preset. They even allowed for some cool weirdness with the xRate switch and expression option. The xRate can give it a ring mod vibe, and you can control between the xRate and the Tremolo with an Expression pedal.
Check out this insanely awesome demo by Bill Ruppert!
This caused a lot of buzz during the NAMM 2015 show, and I can see why, this pedal is fantastic. If you like trem, this is your jam! If you’re interested in the Electro-Harmonix Super Pulsar it is available for only $237.55 at Amazon.com (which is a great buy for this pedal).
