While I was checking the Twitter feed (which I’ve been doing too much lately, so give me a follow to connect with the tweet), I came across a great demo of the Way Huge Supa-Puss delay by Sean Pierce Johnson (check out his YouTube channel.. lots of good stuff there).
Now the Way Huge Supa-Puss is a super powerful and great sounding delay, with a ton of functionality. The Supa-Puss is capable of 900ms of delay time and up to 3 seconds via the tap tempo switch. Breaking away from the standard aqua puss, it some great features like subdivision control (think of U2) with chase mode. Chase mode is super cool, allow the repeats to cycle through each subdivision for some interesting repeats. I have to mention that this is an analog delay utilizing six bucket-brigade chips.
Additionally, the Supa-Puss has Tone and Gain controls for some added tonal shapes. The tone shapes the ‘color’ and the Gain allows for some low gain break-up / grit. The Supa-Puss also has an expression pedal input which controls the delay time.
Okay, let’s watch the video demo that Sean Pierce Johnson posted:
As you can see/hear, this delay is pretty great. Definitely the big brother for the Way Huge Aqua Puss. If you’re looking to pick up a new delay, this might be a great time. At the time of this post, the Way Huge Supa-Puss is on sale for $211.65 on Amazon.com (they normally sell for $250)
