Last night I was checking out Gear Talk and Gear Talk P&W on Facebook – basically checking out boards, etc. I think it’s interesting to see the BBE Sonic Stomp so often. I’ve almost pulled the trigger many times on this pedal. When I post Pedal Line Friday posts, I usually see mention that this pedal is ALWAYS on – similar to the Xotic EP Boost (in regards to people leaving them on).
For those of you not familiar, the Sonic Stomp is the BBE Sonic Maximier rack unit, stuffed into a stomp box. Here is the basic description of what the Sonic Stomp / Maximizer does:
“Sonic Stomp’s application of the BBE technology is just like its big brothers, using frequency-dependent time alignment with integrated amplitude compensation. What’s all that about? Simply put, it helps a speaker more faithfully reproduce the signal so more of the nuance and detail is revealed. Sonic Stomp is not an effect but a tool to allow more of your tone to reach the ears of your audience – and yours.”

This morning, I was poking around and found a nice deal on this unit. The BBE Sonic Stomp lists for $179, and is usually available for $100, but is currently on sale for a great price of $71.00! We’re talking $29 off the going rate! At the time of this posting, there were only 15 units in stock. So jump on it.. if you’re interested!!!

Two things:
1) it is my absolute must have pedal. I love how it cleans the tone up and yet has the same clarity for an overdriven sound. This pedal is especially helpful for my Epi Valve Jr amp, giving me an EQ tweak without the overflow of options an EQ pedal gives. Just a simple “do I want more low defenition? Yes, and here it is”2) my jaw dropped at the $170 and even the $100 prove points listed. I’ve regularly seen them on Geartalk FB pages for $50. Keep looking, cause $50 is an easily attainable deal.

I’ve owned one and at first, I really dug it. I did feel it brought out the best parts of the tone going to the amp. However, with good pedals and a good guitar and at the time a Vox Pathfinder; I wound up feeling it was getting between parts of my tone, and I was just wasting valuable time with it. FYI-eats up the batteries so, don’t use it with batteries unless you own a battery company. I guess a lot have been sold, but a lot wind up on eBay too; so . . . . if, it worked for everyone all the time; then, no one would sell one because it’s a general tool that should be working well all the time for everyone – apparently.

This sonic stop pedal is the single most best investment in a pedal that I have ever made! I thought my SG and Marshall sounded good but after adding the sonic stop through the effects loop (at the beginning of the chain) it sounds amazing! I cannot emphasize the difference that this pedal makes. I was very lucky to have found a brand-new one at a local pawnshop for $40. By this pedal because you will not regret it!
