Pedal Python!

I stumbled across PedalPython.com a few months ago, and shot them an email. They have something simple and useful -things I like to find all the time, and I’m guessing a few of you would be into this as well. Similar products like this existed in other markets – primarily computer/networking markets, and it was only a matter of time before the idea came to musicians. The concept is to provide a simple way to organize the mess of cables running from the board to amp. Unlike computer/networking needs, the solution needs to be easily transportable.. and most importantly, durable to handle multiple use in rough environments.

Pedal Python uses an expandable weave where you can snake instrument cables and power cables to form one large cable. For my personal set up, I require two cables going to a Matchless HC-30 head for the two channels. These cables go out of my ABY switch to the amp. I could also optionally include a AC power cable as well to keep it even tighter. People that run effects loop send/return would benefit from this as well.

The Pedal Python kit includes length of weave, zip ties and velcro fasteners. It was incredibly quick and easy to get my 15′ kit perfectly dialed in for this use. Once all done, you just coil it and you’re ready to go. You can cut the weave to specific lengths if needed, but I would highly recommend a hot knife. Cutting with scissors will work, but will eventually fray the expandable sleeving. The hot knife will melt to prevent fraying.

Pricing is quite affordable. You can purchase black kits (which is the cheapest) ranging from $17.99 for a 10 foot kit to $55.99 for a 50 foot kit. If black isn’t the color you’re looking for, you can purchase colored kits (red, orange, green, blue and graphite) for a little more per kit.

If you’ve been having issues with cables cluttering your set up, it might be time to tighten those up! Pedal Python is a perfect solution for this. The weaving is incredibly durable and will stand the test of continued use on stages and being transported from venue to practice space without falling apart. The price point is very reasonable for the solution and the available options will meet all the players’ needs. I’m definitely giving this a thumbs up!
