TC Electronic is really trying to make things small. For people with boards with limited space (and we know that’s an easy problem to get into), this is great. Over the last couple of years, TC Electronic has been shrinking their pedals. The TC Electronic Polytune Mini comes to mind. What about their Ditto Looper? I was very interested when I heard about another unit they’re putting out. This time it’s their classic reverb, the TC Electronic Hall of Fame. They shrunk this down and called it the TC Electronic HOF Mini.
At first glance I was surprised that there was one knob and one switch. The full size Hall of Fame has multiple effect controls and reverb types. How can this get distilled to a single knob? Well, TC Electronic has it figured it out. With their tone print technology you can program the unit with a pre-configured setting. Also, you can use the tone print editor to customize the settings you want and assign the knob to a parameter you choose. This is pretty brilliant. I have not personally used tone prints (but I plan to, possibly with this pedal).

The TonePrint editor software has made some strides in the past couple months. Now you can create your own presets and save them, which takes care of some of the TC glitches that have become common, where the pedals do a factory reset after startup (very frustrating on the Flashback X4). If you have three or four reverbs that you love and don’t need to tweak on your board, this seems like an amazing buy. I will likely replace my Boss rv-3 with this.
