I know today is not Friday, but due to the large queue of Pedal Line Friday, I thought I do a few on Wednesdays! Today’s pedal line is from Imre Veres. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.
I’m from Budapest, Hungary and I’m a big fan of the site. I’m a guitarist of an alternative rock band called Esti Kornél (sorry for the band’s name, it comes from a fiction novel character by a Hungarian writer so that would be hard to translate into English :), but ), you can check us out at our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/estikornelzenekar) or our YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/estikornelzenekar?feature=csp-in-feed).
My gear is an Orange AD30 HTC head (with an Orange 4×12 cab) and a Schecter Corsair Bigsby. Here’s my current line-up in order of signal chain:
Boss TU-2 Chromatic Tuner -> EWR Micro Booster -> Marshall The Guv’nor MK 1 -> Boss TR-2 Tremolo -> Electro-Harmonix Small Clone Chorus -> Ibanez BC9 Bi-Mode Chorus -> Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Reverb -> Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo + Orange Foot Switch (to the amp’s foot switch input)
I regularly use the built-in gain unit of my Orange amp, no doubt it has one of the best overdrive sounds I’ve ever heard. For boosting I can choose the EWR-made Micro Amp clone or The Guv’nor (just bought recently so I’m still tasting its flavour, actually). However, I’m planning to give the latter bigger role in my setup regarding its massive, crunchy character.
I really keen on experimenting with modulation effects, they define my tone fundamentally, especially chorus pedals. Now I’ve got an EHX Small Clone which does its best in melodic parts, and an Ibanez BC9 coming from the early 80s used for heavily modulated riffs and solos. Usually I use the Ibanez setting the knobs between 2 and 5 o’clock in order to get those incredibly warm and spooky tones out of the box. This old guy is very unique and versatile, really love it. Boss TR-2 trem is also a very reliable one, I suppose no need for introduction, it does its job.
I also use reverb quite frequently. Holy Grail is my first pedal of this kind and I get on well with it. In fact I set it only to the ’hall’ setting for supporting and broadening both clean and driven sounds. In a few tracks I set the Ibanez DE7, for now I use its short delay functions only and works great as well.
Long live Effects Bay!
Thanks for looking.
