Pedal Board Breakdown – Reeves Gabrels

I’m so excited to talk about Reeves Gabrels Pedalboard Breakdown! I’ve been a fan of Reeves Gabrels for some time now, but definitely been more interested in what’s he’s been involved in since he recently signed on with the Cure last year. Reeves played guitar with David Bowie for years in the 1990s (where I first heard of him).  I’ve been a Bowie fan for years as well as a major Cure fan for years. Following Reeve’s Facebook page, he announced he was building a new board and I thought it would be cool to break it down, he definitely has some great pedals on that pedalboard!

Very impressive board. I’ve seen Reeves play with many bands over the years and he never disappoints. I second that that looks like a Timmy Overdrive.

Judging from the tuner-to-DI chain, I’m guessing he either runs a direct line out or – and this is more inspiring to me – he uses the tuner line as an acoustic line, rather than having another switcher channel inline. I’m totally going to steal that idea, whether it’s true or not.

Nice board! The link for the SoundBlox2 multiwave distortion actually goes to the Bass version. I assume it was meant to go here

Nice looking pedals anyway, I will try them out. The Ravish is also very interesting.

Just learned about your blog and appreciate your interest. You are correct about the Timmy Overdrive. The far left pedal is not in fact volume, though, it’s expression: inside the Ernie Ball chassis is a Thru-Tone EX-5 (expression pedal for Line 6 DL4). Cheers, rg

I walked into a guitar store in the 90’s when I was just learning to play and unbeknownst to me Reeves Gabrels was giving a clinic. He was using a Parker at the time I believe – they were new and getting hyped. This was one of the defining moments of my musical journey. Thank you Reeves.
