Pedal Board Breakdown – Jared Scharff – Saturday Night Live Band

It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s pretty cool. What I’m referring to is when I do a Pedal Board Breakdown of a musician, and they contact me after the post is up. In this case, Jared Scharff contacted me to let me know he updated his board since the Rig Rundown video and wanted to know if I wanted to post that pic. Hells yes! For those of you that missed yesterday’s Pedal Board Breakdown, you can read it here: Pedal Board Breakdown – Jared Scharff – Saturday Night Live Band

After receiving the photo below, I noticed some changes between the two boards and through a couple of questions to him. He was kind enough to reply.

Pedal Board Breakdown – Jared Scharff – Saturday Night Live Band - Follow UP

– I see that you’re now using a Earthquaker Devices Disaster Transport, as well as the a Boss DD3/DD6 (couldn’t quite tell which version you had based on the pic). What led to the decision to run with these instead of the T-Rex Replica? Also, is there a decision to go with a mix of the Disaster Transport with the Boss delays?

Boss dd5 I believe. I wanted something warbly/analog ish and a digital delay. I like to combine delays and when I don’t, I think the boss cooperates a bit nicer with distortion

– This board is showing a Xotic BB Preamp, did this end up bumping off the JHS Morning Glory? In the original rig rundown I saw the BB Plus Distortion off the board as well. I know you like to play with different fuzzs and ODs/Booster. What are you shooting for when pedals go on and off your board with it comes to these boosters?

The bb preamp is to have a high gain option. I like the bbplus better but didn’t have the space. The Keely mod tube screamer takes the place of the morning glory.

This board is stationery so nothing comes off anymore. I wish I could have the flexibility to do that but it just is so messy. But why I like that is bc I like using diff pedals. All have diff characteristics and make you play/react a bit differently. So it’s just fun for me to experiment and keep it fresh.

Here is a breakdown of pedals on this updated board:

Boss TS-2 Tuner
Teese RMC Wah
Home Brew Electronics Ultimate Fuzz Octave
Xotic BB Preamp
Ibanez TS9 Tubescreamer (Keeley Mod)
Boss DD-5 Delay
Earthquaker Devices Disaster Transport
Sweet Sound Ultra Vibe
Analog Man Mini-Chorus
Cusack Tap-A-Whirl
JHS Mini Bomb

Thanks Jared for contacting me! The board looks and sounds great!
