A while back John from Freqbox Pedals (based out of Athens, Greece) sent me a pedal for us to demo. This pedal is definitely not your typical guitar/bass pedal, and is something in the noise/weird style of effect. Some of you guys will definitely go nuts over this pedal. This is the Freqbox Pedals Square Tides Fuzz.
In a nutshell, this is an analog octave Low Pass Filter fuzz (square wave fuzz) with some interesting fuzz/synth wah characteristics. Controls for the Square Tides Fuzz are:
– Volume for the clean signal
– Fuzz
– Octave
– Resonance
– Low Pass Filter cut
The Low Pass Filter is also controllable via a expression pedal.
For this demo, we have Jimmy Rolle playing is Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Elegant into a Germino Lead55 Head through a Germino 4×12 cabinet. There is nothing between the guitar and the amp except for the Freqbox Pedal Square Tides Fuzz. Audio was recorded with a Fathead Ribbon Mic and a Shure SM7B, both close mic’d.
