Chris over at Chicago Music Exchange just let me know about another video they just posted -a demo of the EarthQuaker Devices Hoof Reaper Dual Octave Fuzz. Coincidentally, I’ve been in a rediscovery phase of some older Smashing Pumpkins, and this unit can nail some of those classic Pumpkin tones.
The Earthquaker Devices Hoof Reaper Dual Octave Fuzz is a pedal with 2 classic Earthquaker Device fuzzes in one box. On the left you have the Hoof Fuzz, with is based on the older Russian Big Muff (remember the green muff in the huge enclosure?). On the right side is the Tone Reaper Fuzz which is based on a modified Tone Bender circuit. The Hoof Reaper allows you to select individual fuzzes as well as combined. Additionally, there is an octave switch. This gives you the octave up option on either fuzz or in combination with both fuzzes.
Here is the video by ChicagoMusicExchange:

The Hoof Reaper was available back in 2010 as a special limited run, but will be available soon (says November, but I’m guessing December). You can pre-order your Earthquaker Devices Hoof Reaper at Chicago Music Exchange for $295.00

That is one awesome box! The price is a bit high, but maybe I’ll just trade in 5 or 6 of my overdrive and distortion pedals that I never use because they pale next to this beast.

These Earthquaker pedals are awesome! I have the Organizer, which is a great pedal.
