Ok, this guy is finally out and available for purchase.. and they’ve been literally selling like hot cakes. This is the TC Electronic Flashback X4 Delay/Looper pedal. I’ve mentioned this unit before. It’s basically 4 TC Electronic Flashback delays in one single enclosure with additional features, etc. Everyone has been curious about the price… and I feel it’s very reasonable. The TC Electronic Flashback X4 Delay Looper is available for $249.00. The original single TC Electronic Flashback Delay sells for $169, so this is a great value for what it can do.
Here is the official product description:
If you play electric guitar, the TC Electronic Flashback X4 Guitar Delay Stompbox is compulsory gear. TC Electronic hit big with the Flashback, and has been collecting requests for future must-have features. Now they’ve released Flashback X4, which serves up the awesomeness of the original Flashback, but this time with 12 delay types, three presets, a 40-second looper, and tap tempo – plus four TonePrint slots that let you load in presets from your favorite artists – right from your smartphone or PC! From scrumptious analog tape echo to totally twisted reverse delays (and everything in between), you only need one delay pedal: TC Electronic’s Flashback X4.

Just test drove a Flashback X4 yesterday. I have been a DL4 advocate for a long time, and was hoping the X4 would have all the needed improvements I wanted.

But these are VERY different pedals. The delay tones are great, but not very mutable. The controls work completely differently between the two (the “delay level” knob is not a true “Mix” control) and the True Bypass vs Buffered options are somewhat confusing.
There were many pros as well, I just had very high expectations!
