I’ve been a fan of Fulltone pedals for a while. The original Fulltone ’69 has been on my want list for years. I’m also a big big fan of the Fulltone Clyde Wah as well. Great stuff. Yesterday, I got an email from Chris over Chicago Music Exchange letting me know about a video demo they did for the new Fulltone Secret Frequency Overdrive! I’m glad he did! Again, here is another great pedal by Fulltone.
This little box does your standard Overdrive/Distortion but with a new twist. The Fulltone Secret Freq has your standard Volume and Distortion controls, but also has two other smaller pots for Frequency and Highs. The Frequency control adds up to 20dB of active narrow band midrange, while still maintaining your bass/treble frequencies! Fulltone states – “Very unique, and not to be confused with a simple active or passive midrange control tacked on to the end of the circuit, as is the case with all other pedals you’ve tried with a “Mid†control. Adding the ‘Freq’s midrange imparts WAY more sustain and lets you easily place the guitar in the mix where you want it, irrespective of volume… soundman’s not going to bury you anymore.”
The “High” knob is a Hi-Cut knob – full clockwise is your natural tone and is affected by how much distortion you have applied. Going counter-clockwise you get smoother high-gain tones. Turn it to clockwise for more clarity.
