Electro-Harmonix is coming out with another pedal from their Next Step Effects called the Electro-Harmonix Talking Pedal. It’s a vowel wah with a fuzz circuit to enhance the definition of the effect and adds a little growl and grind to the pedal. In a nut shell it brings in the Talking Machine Effect into their new wah technology with a splash of fuzz.
The Next Step Effects has no moving parts – no pots or rack and pinion design to manipulate the wah. It uses some type of accelerometer to determine position and movement (I’m only speculating). Cables plug into the unit and before you begin, you will need to calibrate the pedal (simple procedure). You will not be able to velcro the pedal to a board, since the motion of the pedal is the control itself.
Here is the video of the Electro-Harmonix Talking Pedal by EHX:

This is currently NOT available. I’m not sure of the release date. I would assume very soon.

I would probably buy one if it wasn’t for that terrible rocking mechanism. Put that thing in a cradle and I’d own one.

Cool sounds and EH always rules. Here’s something though. A few months ago, they posted this cool new wah pedal design. I had questioned on their Facebook page, how well it would fit on a pedal board and voiced some issues I could see having. They didn’t respond. I wrote them again and still nothing, and then again saying that with a small cradle of think shaped metal for it to sit in, it would fit great on a board; Maybe better then most, since you you could screw the cradle to your board and lock the EH pedal onto it.
I still have concerns, although the sounds quality rules!

Just got mine yesterday.Like all EHX effects the quality is outstanding and sound is pure. There are some noticable drawbacks…the should call it the walking pedal because it will move around quite a bit on hard floor due to the way it pivots. I found myself chasing it around. The unit responds so well to you foot action and that’s a saving grace. The actual effect is pleasant and articulate giving you that Joe Walsh/ Bon Jovi type talk box sound without sucking on a tube (not cool) lol.We will have a video review posted tomorrow on our you tube channel “rokspodcast”. I like it and overall recommend it.
