I just came across the Premier Guitar Rig Rundown of Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and thought I would share. Kenny definitely has tone for days and days, and this video (45 minutes) really goes into detail from his guitars to his amps and his pedals. I really thought discussion about the amps were quite interesting. I was surprised he’s been using lower wattage combo amps. In my head I was picturing piles of Fender Twins. I also respected the fact that he tries, quite hard, to replicate some of the sounds on the albums. I’m sure it’s easy to get crazy in the studio and just “make it work” on stage, but he definitely goes the extra mile.
For the pedal board breakdown, he was showing his ‘current’ board. He did elude to his new board, which is built by Helweg Custom Pedalboards, who I interviewed in the past, and makes some super stylish pedal boards for sure.
