PolyTune Mini

Tc Electronic Polytune Mini Chromatic TunerThe TC Electronic PolyTune tuner has been a hot seller over the last couple of years. It’s a great tuner that allows you to strum all your strings and it will quickly show you what string(s) are out of tune. You can also use it as traditional tuner and tune individual strings. It’s a true bypass tuner, so make sure you consider that if you’ve been using your Boss tuner as a buffer.

This year at NAMM, TC Electronic unveiled their new version of the PolyTune, the PolyTune Mini. It’s a compact pedal version of the original PolyTune. All the love, just really, really small. Definitely the buzz is out there for this tuner, people are really chomping at the bit for one of these. This new PolyTune also has the Drop-D program in it. For those of you that aren’t clear on this, this is the code to strum all six strings, but in Drop-D to see the out-of-tune string.  No matter what tuning you play you can go with the traditional method to tune you guitar. You just need to be in standard tuning or drop-D to use the strum method.

Here is a video by tcelectronic talking about their new PolyTune Mini:

You can pick up a TC Electronic PolyTune Mini at Musician’s Friend. They’re in stock and ready to ship today for only $89.99!! Great price for that guy. This will also ship for free since Musician’s Friend offers free shipping over $25. So there you go!

Bass players need to be aware that this tuner ONLY works in the single string tuning (chromatic) mode for basses. The PolyTune (multiple strings at once) function doesn’t work with basses. Since there is no USB port for upgrades with the Mini what you buy is what you get…forever. Personally, the size advantage outweighs the negatives for me as both a bass and guitar player.
