Pedal Line Friday – 4/27 – Philippe Pelletier

Today’s pedal line is from Philippe Pelletier. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 4/27 - Philippe PelletierHi there!  I really enjoy Effects Bay and enjoy geeking out on on the pedal boards posted here- so here’s mine and it’s all about overdrive:

The board itself is a Pedaltrain-Pro which comes with a soft case.  It’s very practical and allows for very easy pedal re-arrangement using Velcro. The board is powered by a Pedal Pad Power Pad II that provides 1.7 amps to 8 pedals.   I like it because it cycles well above 60 Hz and very quiet.  It also has an extra AC plug on it’s side allowing me to plug-in the adapter for the Line6 delay.

The signal path is as such:

Guitar=>Boss Noise Suppressor(SEND) => Korg GT-3 Tuner => Morley Black Gold Wah Pedal => Pearl OD-05 Overdrive => Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer => Chandler Tube Driver => Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker => Boss Tremolo Pan PN-2 => Electro-Harmonix Chorus Electric Mistress => Electro-Harmonix Octave Multiplexer => (RETURN) Boss Noise Suppressor (OUT) => Line 6 DL-4 Delay Modeler

Boss Noise Suppressor NS-2:  Having played guitar for more than 20 years the most fatiguing thing a guitarist puts up with is unwanted noise and hum.  This pedal blew me away.  I expected it to reshape my sound but no it worked very well in lowering the unwanted noise level.

Korg GT-3 Tuner:  A tuner in your rig is a must if you’re going to be playing live and don’t have 4 guitar techs at your beck and call.  This one is easy to read from a 10 feet away.  It’s also super quiet.

Morley Black Gold Wah Pedal: This pedal is ancient.  I hate it actually, but it’s been a love hate relationship- strange voltage (18v) – tricky to use as most of the wah action is in the very beginning of the foot movement.  Probably will be replaced with a Dunlop soon.  But then again…

Pearl OD-05 Overdrive
:  Been with me for a very long time.   Noisy pedal but with great sound and EQ.  I have a lot of fun tweaking it. Very nice sounding with a strat.

Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer:  Fan of the Edge?  I am and this pedal used at a medium low drive level is my “clean” sound.  It’s the base for everything else.  However, I don’t like to use it with other overdrives at the same time.

Chandler Tube Driver:  This baby is sweet, this pedal an original, has great sound.  Very warm at times and is fun to tweak as well.

Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker:  When all else fails, tap this to take over and remind everyone who is boss.  Love the tone control with the wicker.  You’ll spend hours experimenting.

Boss Tremolo Pan PN-2: Again lots of fun, a pedal that allows for so much feel and ambiance.  I often use is at 40% depth for just a subtle touch.

Electro-Harmonix Chorus Electric Mistress:  Great pedal but you have to watch it because you can easily get out of hand with this one and end up sounding like some 80s act with a Roland Jazz Chorus Amp (Echo and the Bunnymen anyone?).  The flanger is nice as well although I hardly use it.

Electro-Harmonix Octave Multiplexer:  I enjoying usinge a subtle mix with this one when playing arpeggio staying away from the harsh distortion created by the filters.

Line 6 DL-4 Delay Modeler:  This delay pedal is very cool.  Usually I stay very far from pedals that promise everything but truly this one is incredibly versatile.  I still own a Boss DD-3 but since owning this Line 6 it just sits alone on the shelf.

Thank you very much for the Effect Bay Blog!

I like those boards. Some pedals have big rubber feet. So you can’t Velcro them to a board unless the board has holes or slots like this one.

rofl about the wah pedal. I think everyone has a pedal or two that pisses them off, but still can’t seem to get rid of it =)
    I know I have a few
