This morning I came across an interesting video posted by Pigtronix showing Colin Kasprowicz playing some songs off of his EP – Almost Last. Colin uses some great effects and tasty playing to create soundscapes for a few songs. I thought it would be cool to show this video for you bass players looking for effects inspiration. I broke down some of the pedals used in the video. There was one pedal I was unfamiliar with and I’ll mention it further below.
They broke down the clips by songs, but I noticed that the IPA beer count incremented with every clip. That’s how I break things down.

1 IPA in:
Pigtronix Philosopher King
EHX Micro POG
Pigtronix Aria Disnortion
Boss DD-7 Delay
2 IPAs in:
MoogerFooger phaser
unknown pedal with expression (identified as the Moog MP-201 Multi-Pedal)
3 IPAs in:
Pigtronix Mothership
Pigtronix Keymaster
MoogerFooger phaser
unknown pedal with expression (identified as the Moog MP-201 Multi-Pedal)
Now, the unknown pedal with expression is the one I’m not familiar with. Could be a multi effects unit or something more specialized. If you know what this pedal is, please post a comment below. Also the MoogerFooger appears to be a phase (due to the red switches), but let me know if that is not correct.

thanks for checking out my little demo! the comments below the main post are correct, it’s the MP-201 into the MF-101. the MP-201 is sending either LFOs and/or CV Expression to the Envelope and/or resonance controls of the MF-101 (depending on the song), the overall output of each controlled by the gas pedal on the MP-201. unfortunately, MOOG has discontinued the unit, i’m lucky to have snagged one two years ago when they started full production.
and good on you for noticing the IPA “Easter egg” in this video. it’s been a theme in my Pigtronix demos that we throw a little joke into each one, and this one was courtesy of the Lagunitas Brewing Co.
cheers, in the name of good tone!
