A little while back Musiquip (US distributor of T-Rex products) sent over a T-Rex Tap Tone Delay for us to demo. I’ve been a fan of T-Rex delays (I currently own a Replica myself) so I was excited to get this into the demo queue.
The T-Rex Tap Tempo Delay is exclusively available only at Guitar Center (similar to the T-Rex Yellow Drive). When it comes to delay you’re basically looking at few common controls – Delay, Feedback and Time. The Tap Tempo obviously has a tap tempo footswitch to manage the Time control, but the the Tap Tempo also comes with a Bite control. This allows you to put a slight ‘edge’ to the delay repeats to mimic funky tape delays. The delay overall, is really simple to use (which is very important for me when it comes to delay), and the sound / tone of the delay is something you would expect from T-Rex. You can pick up the T-Rex Tap Tone Delay for $169.99 at Guitar Center only.
For this demo I again enlisted the help of my good friend, Jimmy Rolle. He is playing his Gibson Les Paul Elegant Custom Shop guitar into a Germino Lead 55 (plexi style amp) through a Marshall 4×12 cabinet. There is nothing between the guitar and amp besides the T-Rex Tap Tone Delay.
