Good Deal on the Boss RV5 Digital Reverb on Amazon

Good Deal on the Boss RV5 Digital Reverb on AmazonI came across a good deal on the Boss RV-5 digital reverb at Amazon today. I was first exposed to the Boss RV-5 when I had a chance to check out Foals in Chicago. Frankly I was surprised the Yannis Philippakis was using that pedal, so I took a very serious look at it. Foals have a very reverb rich tone with single note / dual guitar inner play. Inspired by that, I ended up picking one up for myself, and I have to say it is a really great sounding reverb pedal that can give you basically any reverb sound you’re looking for. So, back to the deal. The Boss RV-5 Digital Reverb lists for $264.50 and is usually available for $170, but is currently on sale for only $124.95 at Amazon.com. That’s $45.00 off the going rate for that pedal. Not bad at all.

So in a nut shell, the Boss RV-5 has 6 reverb modes – Spring, Plate, Hall, Room, Gate and Modulate. The controls are Level, Tone and Time. Like I mentioned, this pedal can get you soft reverb, to crazy surf reverb and that giant canyon verb as well. Also this pedal can have stereo outputs.

Here is a good video showing some of the versatility this pedal is capable of:

Again, the Boss RV-5 Digital Reverb is on sale for only $124.95 at Amazon.com. At the time of this post, there were 6 items left in stock. Usually when that count gets down to 1 or 2, the price jumps up. If you’re looking for a great reverb, you might want to jump on this one.

Now that you’ve had a BlueSky for a while, how do you feel that the Boss compares to that?

Hello Brian. One thing the Strymon can do that the RV-5 can’t is the shimmer mode. That thing is pretty cool. Sorta comparing apples to oranges. Currently, the last shot of Yannis’ board shows he is running a Strymon BlueSky AND a Boss RV-5 : http://www.effectsbay.com/2011/05/foals-foals-foals-2/

I am still on the fence about whether or not I like reverb.

Can somebody push me off the fence one way or the other?

If you can focus the effect of bass that would be helpful.
