I’m really excited about this give away! Something a little different, but for you pedal nerds out there.. you’re going to love it. The first give away for the month of March is a Blackbird Pedalboard. I interviewed David Quinones of Blackbird a little while back to talk about their pedalboards. You can read the full interview here – “Interviewing David Quinones of Blackbird Pedalboards“.
I was extremely impressed with the look and design of Blackbird Pedalboards. Their boards are really starting to be seen on the floor of some great bands – ie: Bon Iver. To me, the boards are a perfect blend of a tight clean look with functionality. They just look stylish.
David also let me know about a new line they’re pushing out – Custom Pedalboard Skins. Here is a partial snippet of their official press release:
Why should kick drums get all the glory? Custom pedalboard skins give guitarists a canvas to express the same style and character that goes into their music. The rugged laminate the boards are wrapped in are more scratch resistant than Blackbird’s current tolex boards and the glass like finish offers a great surface for fastening pedals. The skins can also include all of the same features that have already set Blackbird apart from the pedalboard field;
*Â Â The Wah Wedgeâ„¢ platform that gives full access to treadle style pedals without breaking your ankle
* Â Â Locking 1/4″, XLR or MIDI jacks for easy plug and play setups without ever touching a pedal.
* Â Â A/C power inlet to provide constant power to any power supply mounted under the pedalboard
* Â Â Custom fit flightcase to the exact dimensions of your new pedalboard
* Â Â Cable soldering so your Blackbird pedalboard is ready to go right out of the boxBlackbird pedalboards have already been shipped across the world from Seattle to Singapore and their custom skins are available on their website. Pedalboard prices range from $160-$215 with accessories ranging from $5-$190.
So this give away, David of Blackbird is offering up a 12×24 pedalboard with Blackbird Custom Skin (pictured above) which has a hardwood top and 2 locking 1/4″ jacks. A 12×24 board will fit 2 rows of Boss pedals (approximate 4 to 5 per row). This board would normally sell for $200 + shipping, so this is a golden opportunity to get the pedals off the floor and on to something very nice!
Okay, how do you win the Blackbird Pedalboard? Read below:
I’m going to select one random entry on March 20th. I will email that random entry asking for the answer to the question listed below. They will have 24 hours to respond with the answer. If the 24 hours passes and I don’t hear from that finalist, I will select a new random entry and repeat the process until I receive confirmation from the winner. This is open to Canada and US only. Also, one entry per person. Please read that last sentence again… “one†“entry†“per†“personâ€.
The submission form will be open until March 20th (Tuesday) 5PM MST.
On top of that, I’m going to sweeten the deal. If you ‘LIKE’ EffectsBay on Facebook AND like Blackbird on Facebook and you’re selected as the winner, I’ll throw in a extra prize – A free Pedal Label System pack (learn more at PedalLabels.com)
So, it’s pretty much a no-brainer to like Effectsbay and Blackbird on Facebook! Just click ‘like’ below to like EffectsBay and Blackbird.
So the question is…. “How many pedals do you own? And follow up – is that a bad thing?â€

My son is in a Local Rock Band ” The Formula ” and has numerous pedals on a homemade pedalboard and it serves him well. But having this one, well that would be a good thing!Not a bad one EH?
