Today’s pedal line is from Eric J. Lovett. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.
I just revamped my pedalboard after selling off all of my digital modeling stuff and was excited to share it with someone who actually likes effects.
I kept it extremely simple so I could get back to playing rather than tweaking parameters – nothing but a few pedals and my amps.
Here’s the breakdown, from guitar to speakers:
Schecter ATX C-8
Dunlop Jerry Cantrell Wah This is the meanest, sickest wah I’ve ever used.
TC Electronic SCF (Stereo Chorus Flanger)
BOSS NS-2
Maxon OD808
In the loop of the NS-2.
Mesa Roadster head front end
Roadster FX loop send
MXR KFK1 Ten Band Equalizer
I use this one when I’m only playing through the Mark IV
MXR Smart Gate
MXR Carbon Copy This pedal is amazing. So subtle and sweet.
FX return
Roadster Slave Out to Mark IV Combo FX Return
Roadster powers Mesa 4×12
Mark IV powers its Black Shadow and a Peavey BV115 15″ bass cabinet.
The setup allows me to play anything from clean Jazz to full blown death metal without having to tap dance very much, and without any excessive noise.
I’m just one of those older guys who couldn’t afford good gear until guitar playing was put on the back burner. I don’t gig anymore and rarely get the opportunity to jam with anyone, but I do like to crank it up every now and then. Think Marty McFly in Back to the Future II. I hope to start recording soon, once I can motivate myself to actually get to it. Once I do I will post stuff here: http://www.ericjlovett.com
