Today’s pedal line is from Ian McClintock. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.
Hey, my name’s Ian. My current pedal line is a work in progress – I’m still shopping for a chorus pedal and trying to find a cheap Vox wah. The lineup is: Big Muff Tone Wicker -> Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret -> Modtone Tremor -> Korg Pitchblack tuner. The Big Muff running into the Dirty Little Secret sounds awesome, it generates a smooth, thick distortion that sounds high-gain without being sterile or artificial. The DLS is one of the best-sounding pedals I’ve ever played; it cost twice as much as any other pedal on the board and was worth every penny. I keep the tuner at the end of the chain so I can use it as a killswitch. The board is homemade out of scrap wood, angle braces and a doormat all bought for about $10 at the hardware store, and a cheap PA handle bought online which makes it trivial to carry.
